Memorandum of understanding

On behalf of the BIPED project, the Digital Resilience Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NetZeroCities, a collaborative platform set up to support EU’s Mission of '100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.'

Why is it important? As cities strive for climate neutrality, exchanging and learning from best practices becomes crucial for bolstering the replication potential of successful innovations across Europe. Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) and Local Digital Twins (LDTs) are two promising solutions that many Mission Cities see as enablers of the urban energy transition.

With this MoU, BIPED is committing to share insights of its LDT-driven PED design in Aarhus with interested adopters in Europe and beyond.

Jiri Bouchal, DRI's Chairman, said:

We are excited that collaboration with NetZeroCities creates opportunities to scale the adoption of innovative energy concepts and digital technologies, and accelerate city-wide decarbonization through an ambitious district transformation.

In the coming months, joint activities will be planned to facilitate knowledge transfer from BIPED to NZC members. Stay tuned.
